Position Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides emergency and non-emergency medical care in accordance with established BEST EMS protocols and EMT scope of practice. EMTs respond to medical incidents, assess and triage patients, and assist with treatment and transport decisions while ensuring a safe and professional environment for patients, guests, and team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities listed below represent the core duties of this position; additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Provide emergency and non-emergency medical care to guests and team members in accordance with established BEST EMS protocols.
Respond promptly to medical incidents and provide patient care within designated treatment areas when assigned.
Assess and triage patients when multiple calls or patients exceed available personnel, determining care priorities, disposition, and transport needs.
Assist Advanced Life Support (ALS) crews during patient care and response situations as directed.
Document patient care and incident details accurately using the designated electronic reporting system.
Conduct routine checks of medical bags, equipment, and treatment areas before, during, and after each shift; restock supplies as necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Foster professional and respectful relationships with guests, team members, and fellow responders.
Maintain professional grooming standards in accordance with BEST EMS policies and guidelines.
Adhere to all labor policies regarding breaks, shift lengths, and assigned duties.
Qualifications

Knowledge of and ability to operate basic life support (BLS) equipment including pulse oximeters, glucometers, splints, and related tools
Ability to perform rapid patient assessments and deliver basic life support interventions within EMT scope of practice
Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe environment for patients, team members, and the public
Ability to adapt to changing conditions and operational needs
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Professional, self-motivated, and enthusiastic attitude
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Reliable transportation to and from work
Education and Certification Requirements
Required
Current Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Emergency Medical Technician – Basic License
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR/AED Certification required, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire. Company-sponsored certification may be available for candidates who do not currently hold this certification.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands listed below represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods across large venues
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull patients and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance
Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and provide patient care in confined or crowded spaces
Ability to climb stairs and navigate uneven terrain quickly during emergency response
Ability to operate medical equipment and complete electronic documentation requiring fine motor skills
Ability to maintain close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus
Ability to hear and communicate effectively in noisy environments
Work Environment
This role includes both indoor and outdoor work environments. EMTs may encounter:
Large crowds and high guest volumes
Outdoor weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and sun exposure
Loud environments and active public settings
Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and biohazards consistent with EMS work
Physically demanding response situations requiring rapid movement
Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided in accordance with safety standards.
Travel
Travel is generally not required for this position but may occur occasionally for training or operational needs.
